Scout Woven Tee

Pattern: Grainline - Scout Woven Tee
Size: 12
Fabric: 1.2M 72" (much leftover) Local Cotton (Nagoya)
Details:

  • Used store bought bias binding instead of making my own
  • Bias binding for the sleeve and bottom hem
  • Hand stitched the bias binding down with saddle stitch around the neckline and sleeve hem using Perle No. 8
  • The seams are all french seamed including the armhole
  • Stitched a Hungarian embroidery motif at the centre front.  Free motif Little Berry Burst by Kate & Rose.  I used DMC Perle No. 8.  It's stabilized by a lightweight interface.
  • Size 12 is good fit for me in this fabric.  I think fabric choice is an important criteria

I think I need to get more Perle No 8 colours!

Scout Woven Tee

Pattern: Grainline - Scout Woven Tee
Size: 12
Fabric: 1.6M 45" Local Cotton (Nagoya)
Details:

  • Used store bought bias binding instead making my own (read save on fabric)
  • Bias binding for the sleeve and bottom hem
  • Machine stitched the bias binding down
  • The seams are all french seamed including the armhole
The back is designed to be longer than the front.  It's really very simple to put together and it makes a great addition to my home / everyday wear wardrobe.  It's runs a little on the loose side despite choosing the garment based on my bust size.  Unfortunately I've cut 2 more  Scout Woven Tees at sixe 12.  I will remember to go a size down in my next one. I like how a pattern is used over and over again.  Also there's an added incentive since there's a contest over at Kollabora. Yeah ... I'm a sucker for contests ...nevermind not winning any LOL!!

Next in line ... more Scout Woven Tees

Undies

Pattern: Undies (Old Undies)
Fabric: Old T-Shirt

After watching Amy Karol on Creativebug I was inspired to upcycle my old T-Shirts.  Amy teaches to use stretch lace for the waist and leg holes.  I didn't have any on hand but I had a bunch of 1/4" elastic.  It's not well done.  The zig-zag is uneven and not too nice.  It's obvious because I used a darker thread.  I didn't bother to change my threads.  It's undies after all!  It's a little tight, maybe because I was stretching the elastic a little too much. I like the fact I can do this and I'm sure they'll be many more old T-Shirts I'll be cutting up.

Caftan

Pattern: Caftan (Self Measurements)
Fabric: 1.8M 45" Soft Cotton Voile (Zaria)

The caftan was made from a lesson by Liesl Gibson on Creativebug.  It was a very good workshop and Liesl was explaining every step of the way in her class.  The fabric is soft and drapey, suited for a caftan.

Burda - Andre Shorts

Pattern: Burda - Andre Shorts
Size: XL
Fabric: 1M of 60" width linen (Kamdar)
Details:

  • Seams are Hong Kong finished with satin bias binding
  • Added in-seam pockets in a contrasting fabric
  • Amended pattern so that the sides are cut straight
The fabric was cut badly with a very pronounced slant.  Realized only after I came back :(  So I had to do some maneuvering with the pattern.  There was not enough fabric left for the inseam pockets but actually I prefer these contrasting fabrics instead, makes it rather quirky .

Colette - Sorbetto

Pattern:  Colette -  Sorbetto
Size: 12
Fabric: 1.5M 45" Local Cotton Voile (Zaria)
Details:

  • Contrasting bias binding, hand stitched down to the front
  • Added 1" to the length
Love the colours of the fabric and it's modestly sheer.  Makes a great homewear with all this hot weather we've been experiencing in KL.

The bias binding is hand basted before hand stitching it to the main fabric
